DERECK “TREAD” TREADWELL

Director of Mountain Biking and Road Cycling at Gould Academy, Dereck “Tread” Treadwell took some time out of his busy fall schedule to give me a tour of their amazing facility before jumping on the mic and chatting about his history with bikes. We begin with his early years growing up in Old Town, Maine where his love of nature and sense of adventure started to take hold. He then shared some fun experiences involving bears that ran along side him, eagles that swooped down in front of him, and sea turtles that swam all around him. But it was when he started talking about his present role as coach and mentor for the next generation of competitive riders that he really got excited. So if riding bikes isn’t already great enough, having someone like Tread giving support most certainly brings the experience to the next level.
