SPENCER ALBEE

It was a rainy day in March when Spencer Albee and I connected at his studio to record Episode 11. You might know of Spencer from his involvement in many music endeavors over the years such as Rustic Overtones, As Fast As, Spencer and the Walrus, and most recently, Palomino Motel — and through it all (when not making music) he’s ridden a bike. But first we start with his first memories of thrashing around on a Big Wheel and then follow along through the early years as he and his bike crew Justin and Jason upgraded their rides and adventured around Cape Neddick, Maine. We hear about finding the [apparently] ubiquitous “woods porn stash”, buying his own bike at LL Bean with lawn-mowing money, taking a bike on tour much to the chagrin of his bandmates, and appreciating the health benefits of riding a bike as we get older.

And of course I forgot to take photos in March, so we reconnected in June for the necessary selfie on a much nicer day — not to mention I was able to meet his new furry family member. Win-win.
